Hey Bud, lets party! Wind season is finally here!

Stu Nahan: [Spicoli is dreaming that he’s won a  surfing competition] Hello everybody! I’m Stu Nahan, and I’d like you to meet this young man. His name, Ryan Spicoli. And Ryan, congratulations to you. Things looked kind of rough out there today.

Ryan Spicoli: Well, I’ll tell you Stu, I did battle some humongous waves! But you know, just like I told the guy on ABC, “Danger is my business!”

Stu Nahan: You know, a lot of people expected maybe Mark “Cutback” Musgrave or Don “Jungle Death” Renuart would take the honors this year.

Ryan Spicoli: [laughs incredulously] Those guys are fags!

Stu Nahan: [oblivious] That’s fantastic! Let me ask you a question. When you get out there, do you ever fear for your life?

Ryan Spicoli: Well Stu I’ll tell you, kitesurfing’s not a sport, it’s a way of life, you know, a hobby. It’s a way of looking at that wave and saying, “Hey bud, let’s party!”

[focuses on Stu’s sport coat

Ryan Spicoli: Where’d you get this jacket?

Stu Nahan: [evasive] I got this from the network. Let me ask you a question. What’s next for Ryan Spicoli?

Ryan Spicoli: Heading over to the Luna Pier and Catawba internationals, and then me and Biz are going to wing on over to Flint and jam with Eminem!

[to the two girls next to him

Ryan Spicoli: And you guys are invited too!

Thats right Ryan, its not a sport, its a way of life. Well said Bud! Now lets all get out there & party before its too late!  Yeah boy!

      1. let me see, onshore winds that are gusting to 35, a super small beach with no margin for error, houses & powerlines lining a rock breakwall shore & a LP virgin……….hmmmmmmm………… LP for me!

          1. Well its been awhile since the pooping machine doubled this year. Mom doesn’t let me out much. I have been off the map

          2. I wasn’t planning on going, but if there’s going to be virgin carnage, I can’t miss.

What time are you planning to arrive wienerless-one?

      1. You could launch at MMB and meet me at BB. That would be a hell of a downwinder. Pete could map it with his gps!

          1. temps are starting to drop……I’m rolling to MB after I change into my wetsuit.

    1. I ended up at sterling for a couple of hours. Are the waves better at LP then sterling? I’ll have to try hitting up LP next time.

      1. Ryan discovered the down side of me having 2 green Fuels. He can’t tell what size I’m riding if he gets there late.

Today was awesome. The 13 delivers power just as evenly as the 9!

  1. Gary report from MBSP: “Just came off water on 8.5 switching to 6.8…it’s really coming up”

  2. Breast bay went off yesterday. Very powered on my 10m with nice lofty thermals. No gloves or hood and had to dip my head a few times to cool off. Best day I have ever experienced on Erie in March. Let the season begin!

  3. todays wind is starting to look iffey on the forecasts. I, guru, noaa & the flow have it coming in later.

  4. Some one should give Ryan an award for being first in……mmmmmmm, maybe The Spy dick towel??????

      1. Oh no….forgot about the towel. 9 kite. Way overpowered off Bayshore Rd. Sketchy drift launch. (you think CI is bad) I highly DON’T recommend that spot on a WSW. Really gusty coming over the power plant. Lots of dead fish and a couple runaway icebergs. Gary only brought a 5.5 and got hammered at the wind line. Short session. Forgot how much more fun water is than snow

      1. ….and wind. Is the parking plowed?

How did the new snowboard work? My PBJ’s still in plastic wrap.

I’m still debating which board to use where. The love was really nice on snow/ice the other day. Seemed to do as well as John’s magnatraction

        1. I never got out. The parking area at PSF is blocked off so you can only park at the very edge of the road. If it was super windy, I may have chanced it, but it was marginal at best.

There was some tracks there showing that someone had been out there, but I have no idea who/when. Snow coverage was really nice.

    1. John and I, 9m kites, whiteout conditions. Pretty good session.
Snow blowing off the ice and into drifts. John got lost and had to walk home

  5. 9m overpowered… ses at PP ….. clasic waves and wind for there….fun not too many more left this year…

  6. stuck at work……ON SUNDAY!!!! I gotta say though, I don’t feel like I’m gonna miss riding on todays fluky SW direction……

      1. Damn you went all the way across the pond! How did we miss the huge plume of smoke from the fire?

  7. Finally, the weekend and a short but good forecast for Saturday.
I will be out, do not know where just yet.

    1. bad direction, not a lot of water on our end of the lake & work…….that equals a huge maybe for me.

  8. Well that turned out good. Ultra lit on the 7, Don hanging on a 9, Cleveland Mark on a 5 and surfboard, Ryan L made the sacrifice to the wind gods on his 5.8 early. Brad on 6.5 (early) and 5.5′ overpowered. Hans and Chris— 7 and injured. Possible pic in the Port Clinton news herald.

Mark any chance for MB tomorrow if there’s water?

  9. The report from the first shift: LP, there from 8-11am, swell, wind & white caps starting to build. John on a 13(could have been smaller at the end of shift) Mark A on a 10. I do believe no log jettisons went down (at least none were reported), second shift is gonna have it handed to them…..maybe……

    1. especially since I’m off early tomorrow and wed/thurs. I think I’m riding the backyard after work….maybe a downwinder if someone agrees to take my ass home

  10. Looks windy tomorrow but a very non exciting direction, with no time to get somewhere good…….

        1. I survived. Good couple hours and warm. Went out of my friends back yard, probably alot better than SS. Lucky to get back, wind died off quickly

  11. Looks like it’s blowin’ now. FYI MB beach lot is open as long as they let us on the road.
Happy Anniversary one year old pictures!

      1. Its a lot of my fault, when Mike had time to get us all up & firing I was busy, now his schelude is sorta full so we’re just waiting until we all have some free time……soon, I promise!

    1. Just as a heads up, I noticed on the MBSP web site today that they are repaving the beach parking areas. They’re closed from now through October 30th. So, even if we do get a good wind, you might want to consider alternative places to ride.

      1. Anyone been out there during the paving? Did they just close the lot closest to the beach or all of them?

  12. looking at noonish, MB for me, could be the best MB day of the year. I love a small down the line day at MB.

        1. Ryan B & myself 4.5, Brad 5.5, John 9, Pete 9 & 5, Patrick 10, Ryan L about a 120…….cold & windy & cold…..I probably should of been on my 5.5….

          1. 4 of us Michiganians went wsurfin at Sterling all afternoon on 5.4-6.0 , a little light inside but not bad, almost steady, plenty big swell out towards the point, one broken mast not too far out. Aside from that one of the better days this year

    1. Wild day… Wanted to kite for 2 hrs before the Browns game , met Hans at Edge… Sat and stared at glassy water for 45min then decided to pack up and go the the PP… The wind was ripping Hans on 5 and me 6m way over powered for me … No time to get my 5m… Crazy … 8mi east back at the Browns game/ Edgewater …. Not a white cap to be seen!

  13. John report from MB, IT’ S HERE!!!!! Almost due N, cold but no rain. He is gonna try 9 kite, all alone! Could be coming in early????? Don’t hesitate.I hope to roll soon……

      1. arrived to find a cold John on his 9, the Ryans & myself put up 5ishs & rode for a few hours…….tomorrow could be big

    1. IF anyone needs a small sail, we have a few 4.1 & 4.5s on consignment for cheap$$$….no excuses for tomorrow now! Give me a heads up & I’ll even deliver them to you at MB……

  14. Ryan report from MB, 3 windsurfers out on hi 6’s & 7s & he is gonna try his 13 kite. A lot of west still, looks like a wind line out a ways.

    1. Just Dylan and I on 13’s. Pretty damn gusty. Dylan must of brought the wind from Columbus ;)
Rumor has it Pete is back

      1. Indeed, I am! I only got in 30 minutes of ride-time on Saturday after school, but it was awesome to be back on the water. I went from board-shorts and no shirt to full wetsuit between my last ride and this one.

The only thing that hurt was load-&-pop. Twisting your body to pop off the water requires quite a bit of torque on the upper body.

  15. Lit up at MB. Rode DEEP—well past the channel, hung out at the sand bar, saw the commodore on something other than a 8.0, saw the commodore, typical big MB SW day but with a easy in/out.
    Maybe more tomorrow

    1. about as enjoyable as a WSW can be at MB, lit up deep & took a break 3 miles out & adjusted my rig on the channel sand bar, how cool is that……..

      1. That was a first! Pretty cool to see an island rise out of the water 2 feet in the middle of the lake. I wish I had made a super long reach past the Ottawa river into north Maumee bay. Maybe next time

  16. Heading to SS at 3:00, should be on water by 3:30. The pond over here is already white capping. Should be good!!! Anybody making it over this way?

  17. Friday late for me, Saturday all day if there’s any left……….Eminem….reminds me of a Don’s pre AC/DC music selection
