rn2rn3rnrn1

Come and ride with us. Tuesdays we meet up & go kiteboarding & windsurfing (weather & wind permitting). It’s not a lesson, it’s not a demo-the goal is to go riding & have fun, bring your gear & come riding with us, got questions or just want to watch, come on out! We’ll post here where we’ll be, what its looking like & the most important thing, ‘IF’ the wind is cooperating & we’re actually going to be able to ride. The usual spots are Maumee Bay State Park & Luna Pier. 4 PM ish is when we arrive. Check back  & see whats up!

Well, another Tuesday another windless night. I can’t imagine anyone is heading out to ride tonight BUT you never know who needs a 5mph wind fix!

    • tim says:

      windy and tuesday? anyone?

      • Red Sky says:

Brest bay is about your only spot on a SW at this end of the lake. Jay was out there earlier on a 6 kite then went to a 8. He just reported in it’s swung a little & is now WSW which will kinda suck there. Not knowing who is at Maumee Bay but a SW- WSW day is kinda sketchy to get to the wind line that is way out from shore.

  2. Red Sky says:

No wind = no ride night, BUT you should be ashamed of yourself if you didn’t ride this past weekend. Saturday was epic before the rain & Sunday was a typical WSW Maumee Bay day. AND if you rode those 2 days you’re probably a little sore & need today off anyway.

  3. Red Sky says:

Ride Night, Ryan is out at Maumee Bay now, the forecast calls for a shut off BUT it hasn’t happened yet. You have to ask yourself one thing, do you feel lucky? Well do ya punk?

    • Red Sky says:

Ryan report from Maumee Bay, he is packing up, nice little swell on 13m kite & surfboard. So take that for what it’s worth.

  4. Red Sky says:

8/9 Ride Night……all I can say is August sucks!

LAKE ERIE OPEN WATERS FROM MAUMEE BAY TO RENO BEACH OH-

    THIS AFTERNOON
SOUTHEAST WINDS 5 TO 10 KNOTS BECOMING EAST. A
SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS LATE. WAVES 2 FEET OR
    LESS.

  5. Red Sky says:

8/2 Ride Night is on a holding pattern, Ryan believes a thermal wind effect will take place later on but the sensors as of now are showing nothing ride-able sooooooo it’s a watch & see for tonight. IF the winds do thermal in we’ll be at Maumee Bay, I would think 15 is the magic number. Stay tuned to see if it happens.

  6. Ryan says:

I’m on thermal watch for an after work session

  7. Red Sky says:

This just about sums up this July:

    THIS AFTERNOON
NORTHEAST WINDS 5 TO 10 KNOTS BECOMING NORTH.
SUNNY. WAVES 1 TO 3 FEET.

Needless to say there is no ride night!

  8. Red Sky says:

Another windless Ride Night, what can you do? At least they started off strong, hopefully next week it is windy & everyones boo-boos are healed.

  9. Red Sky says:

Tonight’s 7/12 Ride night is cancelled due to the marginal S winds & also due to the fact that about half of the regulars are injured! Maybe this Thursday will bring in decent winds(at least thats what the forecast calls for)

  10. Red Sky says:

If you haven’t guessed it, there will be no Ride Night this evening due to the light & variable winds. It looks like the next opportunity to ride is this Friday.

  11. Ryan says:

home….and watching for se at MBSP

  12. Ryan says:

Capping good in Point Place. Heading to MBSP now

  13. Red Sky says:

Toledo lt 2 just showed a 17-19 knot reading out of the NW, feeling like we might have a ride night. Watching the sensors & forecast will make the official call soon.

    • Red Sky says:

well, it looks marginal but in the spirit of ride nite I’m going for it. Maumee Bay SP is the call. We’ll see what it looks like in person. Cross your fingers!

  14. Red Sky says:

Ride Night……we’re going for it. Looks to be short lived IF it does come thru, but the forecast is calling for decent winds from 4 to around 7! Maumee Bay is the call, no guarantees so no b!tching if it doesn’t happen.

    • Andy says:

Ride night success! Now, I don’t know if I missed everyone else because I arrived late..7-7:30, but thinking the wind was going to die out, I pumped the 14 and quickly realized not the right choice as I got my ass handed to me. Pumped the 10 and rode solo fully lit NW till sundown. Should’ve bit Brad.

      • Red Sky says:

You just missed us, we bounced just before 7. Ypsi Steve, Jay & myself got it rolling around 4pm, 6.5 sails & 10 kite. The wind boosted up just when Pete & Ryan arrived putting up 9m kites & the windsurf crew dropped to 5.2 & 5.5m sails. Super good, looks like we should have stayed longer!

  15. Red Sky says:

Tonights Ride night is so marginal that it is every man(woman) for themselves. I had high hopes that it would pick up & become ride-able but the sensors have been study(maybe slightly decreasing) at around 12. So if you’re feeling lucky go for it. Luna Pier would have been the call but Maumee Bay has a much easier(larger) launch. I myself am keeping my fingers crossed for late Thursday-early Friday. Happy hunting.

  16. Jourdan says:

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for sharing good information on your website.

I ve moved in windsor 2 months ago from France, I will stay until October. I m trying to find a spot to rent a kiteboard or a windsurf. I don’t know if I can buy a used windsurf in the area.

    Do you know about this?

    Thanks.

    • Red Sky says:

No rentals BUT we do sell lightly used windsurf & kiteboard gear. The gear we get in varies. Right now we have a 2013 Slingshot 13m Fuel kite with bar & lines on sale for $450. This kite is in great shape. We have a consignment blog post(above this one) where we list the used gear that we have in stock.

  17. Ryan says:

Wow thanks everyone for making the sacrifice and leaving. I only wish I would have stayed later and pumped up the 9m

  18. Red Sky says:

Well, I don’t know if Ride Night is going to go off like we hoped BUT I am rolling out to Maumee Bay SP now, just to make sure I’m not missing anything.

  19. Ryan says:

Might we actually get a true ride night tomorrow? I’m off work at 3:30 to find out.

  20. Red Sky says:

Yep, I agree!, WTH is the wind!

  21. Red Sky says:

Here is your answer about tonights ride night(do I really need to say it):

    THIS AFTERNOON
SOUTHWEST WINDS 10 KNOTS OR LESS. SUNNY. WAVES
    2 FEET OR LESS.

    TONIGHT
SOUTHWEST WINDS 10 KNOTS OR LESS. MOSTLY CLEAR. WAVES
    2 FEET OR LESS.

  22. Red Sky says:

There is no Ride Night because there is no wind, keep your fingers crossed for next Tuesday.

  23. Red Sky says:

Ride night is starting early, due to the rain & storms that are coming. We’re heading up to N Luna Pier, put out at the beach & you’ll see us. It’s on!
